Privacy Policy

stack4solo is built for solopreneurs, by solopreneurs. We take your privacy seriously and have written this policy to comply with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) — in plain language, no legal jargon.
1. Who we are
stack4solo is a Canadian software platform that helps solopreneurs build and operate their businesses online. We are the operator of stack4solo.com and are responsible for the personal information we collect through this platform. 2. What we collect and why
We collect only the information needed to operate the platform. When you sign up, we collect your name and email address so we can create and manage your account. During onboarding, we collect your business name and type so we can set up your storefront. When your customers use your storefront — placing orders, making bookings, or submitting inquiries — we collect the contact and transaction details they provide solely to fulfill those transactions on your behalf. We also collect standard usage data (pages visited, actions taken, errors) to improve the platform. We do not collect information beyond what is necessary for these purposes.
3. Consent
By creating an account and using stack4solo, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information as described in this policy. Your customers provide consent when they interact with your storefront. You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting us, subject to legal and contractual restrictions.
4. How we use your information
We use your information to operate your account and storefront, send important account and billing notifications, provide customer support, and improve the platform. We use your customers' information only to operate your business through our platform. We do not sell, rent, or trade any personal information to third parties. We do not use personal information for advertising or marketing beyond direct communications related to your stack4solo account.
5. Data retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Order and booking records associated with your storefront are retained for 3 years to support your business records. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law (for example, billing records for tax purposes).
6. Cross-border transfers
stack4solo uses trusted third-party infrastructure providers to operate the platform, including Supabase (database, United States), Vercel (hosting, United States), and Stripe (billing, United States). Your information may be stored or processed in the United States. These providers maintain their own privacy policies and security practices consistent with applicable law. By using stack4solo, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to and stored in countries outside Canada, including the United States.
7. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information: all data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest, database access uses row-level security so tenants can only access their own data, and access to production systems is restricted to core team members. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
8. Cookies
We use session cookies to keep you logged in and functional cookies to remember your preferences. We do not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking cookies, or any cookies that track you across websites. You can clear cookies at any time through your browser settings; however, doing so will log you out of the platform.
9. Your rights under PIPEDA
Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), you have the right to: (a) know that we are collecting your personal information and why; (b) access the personal information we hold about you; (c) request correction of inaccurate information; and (d) challenge our compliance with this policy. To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@stack4solo.com. We will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.
10. Third-party services
Beyond the infrastructure providers listed above, we do not share your data with any other third parties. Links to external websites from your storefront are subject to those websites' own privacy policies.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes that affect your rights or how we handle your data, we will notify you by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. The date at the top of this page always shows when the policy was last updated.
12. Indian data subjects — DPDPA 2023
stack4solo serves tenants and customers in India. For individuals in India, we comply with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDPA). Under the DPDPA, Indian data subjects have the right to: (a) access a summary of personal data we process; (b) request correction or erasure of personal data; (c) nominate a person to exercise data rights on their behalf; (d) raise a grievance with us; and (e) withdraw consent at any time. We have designated a Grievance Officer reachable at hello@stack4solo.com. We will respond to grievances within 30 days. In the event of a personal data breach affecting Indian data subjects, we will notify the Data Protection Board of India as required by the DPDPA.

If you are in Canada and not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at 1-800-282-1376 or priv.gc.ca. If you are in India and not satisfied with our response, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India once it is operational.
